Nha Trang Flooding
In February, 2018, CHKV offered financial support for the large scale flooding in Nha Trang – Damrey. Over 80 families with children were provided with donations to help in the restoration of their homes and lives.
Orphanage Renovations
In February 2013, CHKV visited the Phu Hoa Orphanage in Quang Ngai, Vietnam. This orphanage is home to approximately twenty children of all ages and is run by four Catholic nuns. In meeting with the nuns and the children at the centre, our representatives began to draft a proposal for support of this orphanage for the Board of Canadians Helping Kids in Vietnam. During the visit, six new bicycles were presented for use by some of the older children to use to and from school.
In 2014, CHKV contracted with a Vietnamese builder to make renovations to the orphanage. In addition, last month, a heavy tropical storm resulted in the flooding of the orphanage, with resulting damage to the structure and to personal property. As a result, a campaign undertaken in Winnipeg, saw funds transferred for the cleanup and restoration of property lost in the flooding.
